Exhibition Signage

Exhibitions these days are typically buzzing with energy and jam-packed with all sorts of companies showcasing their services by using different types of exhibition stands which are all designed to jump out and grab your attention – so having the right exhibition signage or branding is key so that you don’t get ignored.

Despite not having too much knowledge on designing the exhibition stands themselves (and let’s face it, it’s best to leave this to the specialists who provide this service for a living) what I can advise on is the type of signage which can be displayed on these pop-up stands exhibition units and discuss two of the most popular forms of signage typically used these days.

Most exhibitions take place in huge exhibition halls and international convention centres such as the Excel London and NEC Birmingham which usually host trade exhibitions for a range of specific sectors across the industry.

With so many companies all crammed into the same room and potentially offering a similar service to what you’re offering, you really need to make sure that your brand name or logo stands out and makes a lasting impression.

For this reason, illuminated signage is by far the most effective way of reaching out and grabbing everyone’s attention, and the chances are, pretty much every sign in the room will be an illuminated sign of some sort so you really can’t afford to get left in the dark.

When designing an illuminated exhibition sign, the design of the logo itself and the size you need the logo to be will usually determine how to produce the manufactured sign. Once you know how much space you have available to display your branding, a signmaker will be able to work out how the logo can be fabricated, what materials can be used and what sort of lighting system or illumination can be used.

Halo illuminated logos: One of the most popular and effective ways of producing an illuminated sign is by using L.E.D lighting to illuminate the logo from behind the letters – in the signage industry, this is known as Halo-Illuminated Letters. A series of L.E.D light modules are installed inside the letters which casts a concentrated amount of light onto the panel or wall which the logo is mounted to. The logo appears to sit on a cloud of light which glows from behind like a halo (I think this is where it got it’s name from!). With this signage method of production, you can be sure that your brand name stands out from across the room. A variety of coloured L.E.D lights can be used as well so you’re not restricted on choice. This method works particularly well if your branding is mounted to a white wall.

rimless 3D letters Rimless illuminated logos: These are a similar design concept to producing an illuminated sign however rather than having the logo illuminated from behind like the halo-illuminated letters mentioned above, the face of these rimless letters illuminate fully to display a clean-cut representation of the brand name or logo. The letters are produced from fabricated steel which creates depth and makes the logo look three-dimensional. The letters are then fitted with an acrylic face which is lit up by a series of internal L.E.D lights. A range of coloured acrylic or coloured vinyl filters can be used to create the desired colour effect. With this method of signage, you’ll struggle not to get noticed! This method works particularly well if your branding is mounted to a dark-coloured wall.

There are a number of other ways of producing a good illuminated exhibition sign. More information on illuminated signs can be found online here:
